The Camera for a Commercial Photographer
As a photographer, I am always on the go from Raleigh, NC, and Roanoke, VA, to New York City and LA even the occasional trip to Iceland. You are probably thinking, wow that must be nice to see all these far-flung locales and exotic cities and you’re right, it is. But, it doesn’t come without its share of challenges. Naturally, I as a photographer want to capture as much of a place as I can, people, architecture, moods, textures, and street life. However between the plane, my Uber ride, the hotel, and the actual shoot I am left with very little time and often found without a quality camera in hand to actually take photos of these incredible locations, their culture, and the many facets that make these places so exotic and interesting. UNTIL NOW!
Now, before I reveal my secrets, I must give a disclaimer. If you fancy yourself a “serious” photographer turn away now, stop reading, go cradle your Leicas and Hasseblads while muttering under your breath about the decline of true photography. Damn Kids!
Behold…. the iPhone! That’s right you’ve got one, I’ve got one, and 74 million others have one as well. Of course, nothing is going to replace my beloved MKIII or the exceptional Leica M, but in today’s incredibly fast-paced, blindingly busy world it is nice to know you’ve got something up your sleeve (in your pocket) so that when the moment strikes, you are sure to CAPTURE/PRODUCE a stunning image.
So, this week we take a moment and dedicate some time to some of my favorite iPhone shots of the past year. Taken somewhere between NYC, VA, LA, and beyond. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Keep snapping!
