Welcome to the New Brett Winter Lemon Photography Website
The last few years have been an explosive and pivotal time for me as a photographer and business owner. Returning to my native Virginia after living abroad and traveling extensively I have been proud to observe – and be a part
of – the region’s exciting cultural revitalization. Southwest Virginia’s economic development and multitude of creative arts have offered great opportunities to capture vibrant images and energy through my camera lens.
As a person, I thrive in a collaborative environment where I can interact with interesting people — so living in a community filled with such creative energy and amazing people has really impacted my skills as a photographer and my collection of work. I learn something new with every shoot – by observing my surroundings, listening to ideas, combining them with experience and translating it to a photograph.
Through projects such as Faces of Roanoke — where I am capturing the many faces of individuals who have contributed to this cultural wave — I continue to develop unique ways to tell the story of Roanoke’s rejuvenation and intense cultural vibe through my lens. With nearly 200 photographs complete, I am telling the story of a cross section of people, passions and personalities who embody the energy and vitality that makes it such a cool place to be.
I envision Faces of Roanoke ultimately developing into an exhibit or publication featuring over 100 black & white images of people who are leaving their mark on our lives – perhaps even raising funds to support their arts and cultural endeavors.
